Met Assassin's Creed: Unity is de competitieve multiplayer overboord gegooid en is de nadruk op de coöperatieve multiplayer gelegd. Het is een richting die Lead Producer Vincent Pontibrand graag voort zou willen zetten.
In een interview met Arabic Gamers geeft hij aan dat het zijn droom is om de franchise te gebruiken als uitgangspunt voor een MMO waarin de cast uit de gehele serie samen komt. Zijn doel zou zijn om de verschillende tijdslijnen verder uit te diepen, echter beseft hij zich dat zo'n project momenteel niet realistisch is omdat er simpelweg geen tijd voor is:
quote: "I'd love to have time personally, but it's not there! My dream would be to build basically an MMO where we can just revisit all these storylines through the same avatar, that would be awesome! But it's not the game we're making."
Eén van de speerpunten van Assassin's Creed: Unity is dat vier gamers het spel tezamen kunnen beleven, een concept dat ze in de toekomst graag verder willen ontwikkelen. Pontibrand noemt het de eerste stap in een online versie van Assassin's Creed, waarbij er ook al nagedacht lijkt te worden over de volgende stappen:
quote: "We haven't gone as far as we want, you cannot share the world with other groups of people. When you're online with three other friends you're just the four of your in your session of Paris. Other players might be playing at the same time, so one of your friends could drop out and one of your other friends could join you and we have joining progress and stuff like that."
Assassin's Creed: Unity verschijnt op 28 oktober voor de PC, Xbox One en PlayStation 3.
